Maine Nordiques 18U NTL Win Overspeed Holiday Classic

The Maine Nordiques 18U AAA completed their first 4-0 sweep of the season this past weekend at the Paul D.MERRITT Holiday OverSpeed Classic (Mount Saint Charles-Host). It’s second year in existence the event included 8 teams with 2 top 10 teams and 4 top 30 teams as ranked by @myhockeyrankings. Last year’s Holiday OverSpeed classic would see the Maine Nordiques lose in the championship game to the eventual National Champion Mount Saint Charles 5-4 in Overtime. A costly mistake in OT has stung for the past 12 months. A year later the Nordiques would assure themselves redemption outplaying their opponent #2 Mount Saint Charles- in a 3-0 Win. F. Grant Dietz (lone returner) had a stellar weekend averaging 2 points a game with his recent return from the Johnstown Tomahawks.. A great revenge for a costly mistake in the OT game a year ago @MYHockeyranking peak performer of the week Shane Kozlina finished the weekend with 4 goals and 5 assists including a hat trick Vs power house South Kent Selects Academy. Secondary scoring was a huge part to the overall success as the Nordiques saw 8 different goal scorers this weekend. G. Ryan Piekarski and Braxton Castagno combined for 3 goals against in the four games including a shutout by each goaltender. Lastly, All of the Nordiques out shot their opponents en route to the 4 win weekend including wins against Team Illinois 7-0 North Jersey Avalanche 3-2 South Kent Selects Acad. 4-2 Mount Saint Charles 3-0 Congratulations to all of the boys and whole Nordique organization on the first championship in program history.
